Yup. I live in the woods. Literally.
There are only 14000 people in my whole county, and most of the land
around here is state park (Hoosier National state forest, southern
Indiana). I'm guaranteed to be without power a couple of times every
winter and probably in the spring.
Over the summer, some jack-off in a pickup hit a pole that holds up the
main power line to this section of the county - no power for 8+ hours.
When the floods hit 2 months ago, I was without power for 2+ days.
Since I'm not on city water, it's good to have power so I can have
running water, along with refrigeration, etc.
The funny thing is, the phones never go out, so I run my (DSL) router
off the generator and surf the internet in the dark.
