I made a homemade tool out of desperation that worked great. I took a scrap piece of wood that was about .75 X .75 X 12 inches. I put 2 decking screws into one end to correspond with the slots on the mast cover...approximately 1 inch apart. The tips of the screws jutted out one side about .25 inch. The tips of these screws were spaced to match the slots on the antenna mast cover. This tool easily removed the cover when I couldn't get it off any other way short of destroying it. I spent about 10 minutes building the tool and removing the threaded cover...no damage.
